Coach Tony Camarena

Hi my name is Tony Camarena and I'm proud to be back again as the La Habra Lions Pee Wee White Head Coach. I'm excited and looking forward to seeing my returning players, their families and welcoming our newcomers as well.  This will be my 3rd year at La Habra and I feel honored to work with an organization that serves the community and that volunteers their time and effort for the benefit of our youth.
I had the pleasure of playing for some good coaches throughout my life, they made a huge impact on the person that I turned out to be. Because I owe so much to them, I want to give back to the community by coaching youth football. I feel that good morals and guidance are crucial to these young men at this time of their lives, and football is the tool that we use to communicate to them. It's rewarding to me when I'm able to sneak in a lifelong lesson, while instructing the game of football.
My coaching philosophy at the youth level is that we as coaches have the responsibility of what the kids will get out of this sport.  We have the obligation to make sure that they feel in a positive environment when they step onto the field. I believe in "praising in public and correcting in private", that doesn't mean that I don't get on my players, but a kid that is treated with respect will give it right back.  I prefer kind encouragement over harsh criticism.  My short term goal is to assure that all my players have fun next year while they gel together as a team, and my long term goal is to help build character, and make these young men productive and responsible citizens.

Go Lions!
